Chemicals, Drums & Industrial Containers FAQs

What information should I provide Troymill to get a quote on chemical drum and container packaging?

Pallet type, dimensions, quantity, destinations, timeline, container type (drums, IBC totes, bulk), load weight, and any handling or stabilization needs. The more detail you can share upfront, the faster we can model and quote the build.

Can Troymill build heavy-duty pallets rated for full drum and IBC tote loads?

Yes. Troymill engineers heavy-duty pallets through our Pallet Design System (PDS), which models bending, shear, and safe working load before any board is cut. Custom pallets up to 48' long and 100" wide are available, with heavier or longer requirements reviewed case by case.

Does Troymill provide engineered dunnage and blocking for drum stabilization in transit?

Yes. Troymill kiln-dries and machines hardwood dunnage boards, solid cribbing blocks, banding-groove dunnage, and wedge blocks. We supply dunnage from 2" x 2" boards up to 12" x 12" timbers, cut from dense oak, maple, and hickory for loads exceeding 10,000 pounds.

Can Troymill build custom pallets to fit IBC totes and industrial container footprints?

Yes. Custom pallets can be built to your exact container footprint and handling method. Send container dimensions, total weight, and any racking or forklift constraints, and Troymill will model the design and quote the build.

What materials does Troymill use for chemical industry pallets and dunnage?

Troymill supplies hardwood (oak, maple, hickory) for maximum durability under heavy drum loads, Southern Yellow Pine for high strength-to-weight applications, and Spruce-Pine-Fir for lighter loads. Mixed species can be combined within a single pallet to balance cost and load rating.

Can Troymill heat-treat chemical packaging for international export shipments?

Yes. Troymill operates an in-house ISPM 15 heat treatment facility with monitored 56°C cycles for 30 minutes, ALSC-approved IPPC stamping, and digital heat-treatment certificates emailed with the bill of lading for customs records.

Does Troymill use bark-free lumber for chemical industry shipments?

Yes. Troymill ensures every piece of wood used in heat-treated and export pallets is debarked per IPPC ISPM 15 requirements, supporting both phytosanitary compliance and clean-handling expectations for chemical and container packaging.

Can Troymill support recurring chemical and container packaging orders?

Yes. Troymill supports recurring orders with reserved capacity for ongoing programs, consistent truckload inventory, and delivery from our own fleet of 48' and 53' flatbeds, dry vans, and box trucks across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic.
