Material Choices: Hardwood vs. Southern Yellow Pine (SYP)
Q: What are the advantages of hardwood pallets?
A: Hardwood pallets are extremely durable and ideal for heavy-duty or long-haul shipping. They offer higher load capacity, better impact resistance, and long service life.
Q: Why choose Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) pallets?
A: SYP pallets are typically lighter than hardwood pallets, making them easier to transport and handle within your warehouse. SYP pallets are often made from Kiln Dried SYP, which is a feature favored by certain end users.. They’re also widely available and meet standard performance needs.
Q: Does Troymill build hybrid pallets?
A: Yes. We often combine hardwood deck boards with SYP stringers to balance strength and cost. Hybrid builds allow customers to get the proper performance at the right price.
Q: Which material is best for my application?
A: It depends on your load weight, frequency of reuse, and shipping distance. Our team will recommend hardwood, SYP, or a hybrid option after learning your requirements.

Q: Is Troymill committed to sustainability?
A: Yes. Troymill operates near-zero landfill facilities, recycling wood, sawdust, metal, and corrugated packaging. We also refurbish used pallets to extend their life cycle.
